Football Leagues – The First Half

As we move to the second half of all major football leagues, let us look at how the competitions have turned out so far in the first-half. The three leagues of English Premier League, La Liga Santander, and Bundesliga have a close race between the top four teams, with no definite leader so far.

English Premier League – England*

Liverpool is currently at the top of the table with 57 points, trailed by Manchester City at 50 points, Tottenham Hotspur at 48 points and Chelsea at 47 points. Riding on some brilliant performances by Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the EPL has been a close contest so far, with the top four still being clear contenders. The bottom three teams are Huddersfield Town, Fulham, and Newcastle United and are currently in the relegation zone.

La Liga Santander looks like a tightly knit contest. FC Barcelona team is the current table topper closely followed by Atlético de Madrid, Sevilla FC and Real Madrid. The difference between the fourth-placed Real Madrid and FC Barcelona is only 10 points. Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Cristhian Stuani are the top scorers in the league so far.
